Virat Kohli amassed his 40th one-day international century but it was Vijay Shankar’s part-time seam bowling that helped India to a tense eight-run victory over Australia in Nagpur Call Girls.
In a see-saw second ODI that provided a nail-biting climax, India captain Kohli turned to Shankar’s medium pacers for the final over because his more senior bowlers had completed their allotments.
Defending 11 runs and with Marcus Stoinis on strike Shankar struck first ball, pinning the big-hitting Australian in front for 52 for his first ODI wicket.
